The Nigeria U17 team, Golden Eaglets, have sailed majestically into the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU B U17 Championship with an impressive 3-0 victory over Togo's Baby Sparrow Hawks. The win secures Nigeria's place at the top of Group B with seven points.
Edward Ochigbo, who delivered a standout performance, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match as he was instrumental in securing the win for Nigeria.
The Golden Eaglets will face Cote d’Ivoire in the semi-final on Saturday, 25th May 2024, with the match scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM. The other semi-final will see Ghana clashing with Burkina Faso at 4:00 PM on the same day.
Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets, Manu Garba, expressed pride in the team's performance and optimism about the upcoming semi-final clash. "Our boys played well today, demonstrating their skill, teamwork, and determination. We are focused and ready for the challenge against Cote d’Ivoire. Our goal is to continue this momentum, reach the final and qualify for the U17 AFCON," he stated.
