Plateau United coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has put foot on the ground so as not to be carried away in the recent form of the club.
Former MFM and Heartland of Owerri coach, revealed to www.ckdmedia.ng via a phone chat that despite the fact the team is doing well presently, they wouldn't be carried away while thanking the governor of Plateau State for the wonderful package and support he has been giving to the team as well as the general manager and management team.
"To me we have not turned things around because we are still in week 13. If anybody in week 13 in the premier league or any league in the world, thinking he is topping the table is not true. We can't turn things around, yes we are topping the table but we are not going to get carried away.
"I will not tell you that Plateau United are title contenders because we have alot of players in the team. We are working very hard to get it right and not battle relegation.
"While using this medium to thank the Governor of the state, Dr. Simon Lalong for his support to the team, chairman of the club, technical director as well as the management team that are working tirelessly to make sure we get good result.
"I am not under any pressure to win the league, but rather fighting to see that this team will not battle relegation. Because most times when a coach takes over a team, because of new players and other things. It takes time for the team to get cohesion and understanding which makes teams battle relegation. So we are working hard to see that Plateau United don't get there. So those fighing to win the league will be under pressure. Maybe next season we will fight to win the league.
