The last batch of team Nigeria contingent arrived Nigeria as at 12pm Thursday via Ethiopia Airline at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and were received to a warm reception.
One of the Paralympians who won a gold medal at the Javelin event, Flora Ugwunwa has dedicated her medal to the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare while speaking with the Pressmen during their arrival at the Airport.
According to Flora while speaking with the journalists,
"Apart from God almighty, I dedicate this Gold medal to the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare.
"The Minister made this successful achievement possible, he ensured that the camp was opened early for us to prepare for the tournament and the early camping played a vital role on the road to this success.
"The Minister also ensured that our welfare was taken care of as a result we were focus and determined to make the Nation proud.
The Paralympian gold medalist also talked about the reason why she could not break the world record she created
"Yes, like I have said, the preparation was fantastic and my target was to break the world record I created but the weather condition in Japan affected me and it slowed me down a bit, that's why I couldn't break the record but the most important thing is the Gold medal and I am very happy that I won it.
She went further by talking about her next move
"What I want to do now is to relax and after the relaxation, I will start training again because we still have the World Championships coming next year in Japan and the Common Wealth games. Flora concluded.
The notable dignitaries who received the Paralympians are Acting Director Planning, Monitoring and Information Dr. Peter Nelson, Alhaji Ali Durotoye, Director of Grassroots Sports and S.A Sports to the President Daniel Amokachi
