The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Refereeing Development Unit has notified concerned Referee Assessors and Referees in both the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL) of the decision of the Refereeing.
Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to stand them down for the list of Referees and Assistant Referees, for the reminder of the season.
This action was taken to mitigate glaring arbitrary decisions, taken by these arbiters, that have no recourse to any part of the Laws of the Game, in view of the incidences that occurred; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
The affected Referees and Assistant Referees withdrawn with immediate effect, from Refereeing matches in the NPFL and NNL are:
Okolosi Isaiah Owohede (EDO State); Johnson Ikechukwu (RIVERS State); Ogben Kindek (Cross River) and Ayem Joy (BENUE).
The Referees Committee frowned at clear impunity that underminds the sporting integrity of the leagues, as displayed by these Referees and Assistant Referees, hence the decision to draw a redline as to what the Committee will not tolerate.
Furthermore, all Referees and Assistant Referees in all cadres of the League system were warned to avoid placing personal opinions or interests above the dictates of the Laws of the game.
