FC Porto's Nigerian forward, Samu Omorodion, has opened up about his difficult time at Atlético Madrid before securing a move to the Portuguese club.
In an emotional revelation, Omorodion recounted how his dream of playing for Atlético turned into a nightmare.
“At Atlético Madrid, I spent many nights crying... my family and my mother also struggled,” he shared, describing the mental toll of being sidelined by the club. "I was training separately. I didn’t feel like part of the team, not like a footballer. I was training, and my mind was telling me otherwise. It was tough, really difficult.”
The striker explained that during the tough times, he received no explanation from the club. “No one spoke to me to explain why and I didn’t speak to anyone… as I already knew Atlético Madrid's stance,” he told Marca, as scooped by ckdmedia.ng.
“I didn’t move to Chelsea when the deal was almost done, but in the end, everything happens for a reason."
Reflecting on his move to Porto, Omorodion expressed gratitude. “I wanted to play at Atléti, it was a dream… but they didn’t want me, and then Porto decided to trust me. I have to say thanks to Porto and the president; their total trust has made the difference, and I’m happy."
Since joining FC Porto, the striker has found his form, scoring seven goals in his first seven games. Despite the challenges, Omorodion is now thriving and thankful for the new chapter in his career.
