NPFL 2023/24 Update: Enyimba's Coach Yemi Predicts Tough Rescheduled Duel Away to Rivers United

Enyimba Int'l FC of Aba, will for the sixth straight match, make do with the absence of their Head Coach, Finidi George who is in Côte d'Ivoire, on Afcon duties with the Super Eagles, as one of José Peseiro's Nigerian Assistant Coaches; when they clash with familiar foes, Rivers United in a rescheduled 2023/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture, today.


Speaking ahead of the crunch encounter, Enyimba assistant coach, Olanrewaju Yemi who has managed to pluck-out some eye-catching results for the reigning champions, has predicted what he called "a very tough clash" against a Rivers United side, that has been weighed down with a spate of unimpressive results, layely.


Yemi also insisted that despites their recent struggles, Rivers United, under the tutulage of Stanley Eguma remain a strong candidate for the NPFL title, this season.


He however expressed his players’ readiness to have a go at the three points on offer, in the rescheduled fixture, to be played at the Adokieye Amasiamaka Stadium, in Port Harcourt.


"We know it’s going to be a tough game against them. Rivers United have made no secret of their desire to win are all the available points at stake in their remaining rescheduled fixtures. But we want to have a say in all of these, so it’s going to be a competitive game against them in Port Harcourt.”


The Aba People's Elephant are currently 3rd on the NPFL log with 32 points, 4 points off the pacesetters, Lobi Stars of Makurdi who are on 36 points; while the Pride of Rivers with two other games in hand, are 14th in the table, and on 21 points.
