Who wants Peseiro when we have Cerezo? That is the big question football fans are asking after the Super Eagles beat Egypt effortlessly to Kickstart their AFCON 2021 campaign on a winning note.

The interim technical crew led by former Nigerian international Augustine Eguaveon produced a football masterclass from start to finish and left the Pharoahs chasing shadows all through the duration of the match.

Kelechi Iheanacho's lone strike in the 30th minute is not a true reflection of the dominance especially in a first half littered with fantastic pressing football, quick counter attack, brilliant wing play and flawless marking.

Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon needed no one to remind him of the role Moses played in conquering Egypt in the old testament. He ran riot on the day and frustrated every Pharoah that came his way until he was substituted in the second half of the match.

Liverpool of England striker Mohammed Salah struggled to impress and was left with just one poor attempt on goal as the Nigerian team kept their cool for 90 minutes to claim three points and go top of the group.

After the match, the name, Eguaveon changed to Eguardiola. Nigerians seem to have found their own version of Pep Guardiola. They have waited five good years for this day to come and now they have every reason to dream.

Who wants Peseiro when we have Eguaveon they cried? That should send a message to the right quarters, that all they wanted was good football spiced up with impressive results. If a black man can do it, then why employ a foreigner?
