The Director of the Federations and Elite Athletes Department (FEAD) at the Federal Ministry of Sports Development, Mr. Olumide Bamiduro, has called on Nigerian coaches to consistently seek professional development and capacity building to stay updated with the latest trends in their fields.

During his presentation on Tuesday at a workshop on capacity building for Olympic coaches, Mr. Bamiduro emphasized the importance of promoting the acquisition and application of scientific knowledge and data-driven information within the Nigerian coaching sector. "It's high time to promote the acquisition and application of scientific knowledge and data-driven information in the Nigerian coaching sector. Staying in touch with the latest trends involves exposing oneself to training and retraining," he stated.

The workshop was organized by Fame Foundation, and supported by the French Embassy in Nigeria.

The workshop, which aimed at preparing coaches for the upcoming Olympic Games, received positive feedback from participants. Coaches and other attendees praised Mr. Bamiduro and the instructors for their insightful exposition on modern coaching standards aligned with the Olympic Games. The training was deemed timely, considering the proximity of the Olympic Games, which are less than a month away.

Mr. Bamiduro's rich experience was highlighted during the workshop. He has served as the secretary to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and various other federations. Additionally, he was a special assistant to former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare, and currently serves as a special assistant to the present Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, before his elevation to the acting Director of FEAD.
