Esther Okoronkwo 87 minutes goal was what the Super Falcons needed to beat the lady Elephant by a lone goal in their home soil.
Recalled Super Falcons defeated the same team by 2-0 at the Moshood Abiola stadium, last week Wednesday in Abuja. A match full of intensity, right from the start of the proceedings, which led to penalty against the Super Falcons. Thanks to Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie that saved the penalty kick as at 33 minutes of play. The first half ended in a stalement.
Resumption of the second half brought out the best from both teams but it was the host that had series of chances at goal. The backline of Super Falcons led by Onome Ebi was resolute to curtail all the attacking forays of the Ivorian ladies.
It was Saint Etienne player, Esther Okoronkwo who stole the show and put the match to rest with her solo goal that gave the Super Falcons much needed victory in Abidjan.
